1st, 2nd and 3rd of March

Friends that stays long enough in my life would know what March means to me. It’s that time of the year, it’s a-must-go thing for my family and I. Honestly, I didn’t have the intention to go for 3 days pass because I’m on my 3rd year in high school and obviously, there’ll be lots of exams coming up. I didn’t even asked for a 3 days pass, but my aunt gave us tickets and I don’t see any reason to refuse.

Day 1
Jeff. Bernat. The artist I've been looking forward the most. The first song I heard was “My Dear” as my Spotify was on shuffle. I was touched by the sound of saxophone and how his songs always have that highlight of that piano, beat, and sax. Most of the songs that I’ve heard was pretty slow it made me sway as I heard it live. I was so happy because he sang some songs from the new album “She Loves Me Not” which was released a few days ago. After that, my sister and her friend went to the stage where they watch H.E.R which was the Special Show that day. Luckily I wasn’t all alone, I planned to meet up an old friend from Junior High whom I spent this festival last year with. And we spent almost the whole night together. We went to the stands, coffee-talks and each stands have this game or challenge that could give you fun prizes if you win it out. It was all about having fun, Cassia and I went to this stand where we can give songs request and they’d play it with the video on the big screen in a karaoke version. I requested “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and she requested “Inikah Cinta” and there were more strangers gathered around us, we all sang and danced to it. It felt like those 90s movies where one would sang a song and it affects the whole room. We separated after we ate late supper together and I picked up my sister and her friend. Friday’s always the best because it’s the least crowded and everything looks fresh and new. It made you feel so relieved and gave you the “I’ve been longing for this” kind of sigh.

Day 2
Crowded as I expected it would be. My sister got heavily sick because it rained a bit hard yesterday during one of the shows she watched with her friend. She was resting the whole day and I hope she was strong enough to go with me because we’ve been wanting to watch Mac Ayres together but she too weak. It felt weird leaving her as I was on my way in the taxi with my mom and dad, I never not go with my sister and today I suddenly have to accept the fact that I’m going to this festival alone. Yeah, alone because my parents got their own schedule to see the artist they’ve been wanting to.
I watched The Daunas (like I did last year) and they sounded better! Later on, my Dad and I watched Bob James Trio and Peter White together. He knew I was enjoying the music they were playing and he was like “If it weren’t for a Dad like me, you wouldn’t attend to this kind of stuff”, I just smiled.
Then, Special Show of the night, Mac Ayres, I rushed to be in the front line and the concert struggle is real. I’m doing this for my sister, she asked me to record her favourite songs of his. Thankfully, after all the lining-up, the running, and as  my heart beating fast I finally made it to the front row. I met new friends who were a bigger fans than I am and they were lovely. Music really does unite us all.

Day 3
Surprisingly, it was much more crowded than yesterday, i think it’s because TOTO was the Special Show of the night, it’s this oldies legend and my sister and I were given the tickets even though we didn’t even ask for it. My sister’s condition was better than yesterday so we went to watch Sinead Harnett together. Then, for TOTO, we sat at the back while our parents was blending in the crowd and their songs was so cool and it gave the whole room this fun energy. There’s a lot of old couple who sang and danced like no one’s watching it warms my heart. Seeing them happy made me happy. We went home immediately after it end because I had to wake up in the morning for school tomorrow. It’s funny that it took one year to wait for this festival and suddenly it happened that fast you didn’t realize it’s over already. But what a blast we had. Until next year, JJF!
